Reducing Chiller Energy Consumption – Announcing Climacheck Service Partnership
Qey continue to invest in innovative HVAC solutions and today we are proud to announce our latest partnership with ClimaCheck Sweden AB.
ClimaCheck is a world leader in Performance analysis of HVAC systems, with decades of experience in analysing and improving Chiller performances around the world. ClimaCheck manufacture products and develop software that deeply analyses refrigeration equipment, with a main focus on Chillers.
Qey will become an official service partner in the UAE to analyse Chillers and offer ClimaCheck services and solutions into the UAE.
Chillers represent 50% of energy consumption in typical buildings in the United Arab Emirates
Qey’s research show that up to 80% of Chillers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are running at incredibly low performance levels due to multiple reasons. This shows the potential of decreasing energy and increasing Chiller performance around the country.
However, this can only be achieved by understanding exactly where the Chiller can be improved, and this is what ClimaCheck equipment and software allows us to see.
Qey will now be offering clients a Chiller on-site analysing service that creates a very in-depth report of the Chiller’s performance that is unable to be seen with normal pressure and temperature gauges or by reading a Chiller display.
The algorithms inside of the ClimaCheck software evaluate the performance against a benchmark of how the Chiller can perform at its optimum level, with the main criteria being the System Efficiency Index.
This System Efficiency Index (SEI) evaluates the performance at a wide range of conditions.
The outcome of the analysis provides the client the ability to ultimately improve the Chiller performance by carrying out improvements that are often low cost, for more than 20% energy savings, whilst also increasing the capacity of the Chiller.
The service can then be continued throughout the year as a Predictive Maintenance Service, to ensure the SEI is being maintained and reduce the risk of failures and downtime. Being at the optimum SEI level, means the client knows the Chiller is performing at peak levels.
A graph is also shown to analyse how the Chiller is functioning overtime and plots conditions such as Energy, Pressures & Temperatures

Performance inspection
With the portable ClimaCheck Onsite equipment, we will get ‘test facility’ information in the field. The equipment allows us to understand the true Chiller performance in a revolutionary way and document the results for a complete overview that is easy for clients to understand.
Chiller performance can be analysed within 2 hours operation after connection. If required, it can also data log over a longer time period to evaluate control strategies.
The portable equipment from ClimaCheck called ‘ClimaCheck Onsite’, will enable Qey to offer various services in the field related to Chiller performance and analysis.
Energy optimisation
The portable test will enable us to analyse areas of concern during Chiller operation, with the final analysis report offering optimization corrections or additions, such as optimum gas charges or control techniques, that will give an immediate return on investment.
The analysis will also be used for our own enhanced visibility of the potential for a Chiller EC Fan Retrofit to be carried out suing our MatrixChill upgrade solution. More than on our Chiller EC Fan Retrofit solution can be read here.
Predictive maintenance
The analysis can also be carried out every quarter to ensure the Chiller continues to function at optimum levels.
A permanent ClimaCheck installation can also be offered and connected to the ClimaCheck Online Cloud service for continuous monitoring. This enables Qey to optimise operation and detect deviations over time and fix issues before they cause a breakdown. This will give early indications of refrigerant leaks and/or wear and tear of certain components, allowing the customer to react quickly. This can be added to an annual maintenance contracts that Qey offer for Chiller plant.
Data can also be sent to ClimaCheck online via integration with modern BMS/BAS/SCADA-systems or through turnkey equipment.
